Back to school.. back to school

And the semester begins. Wow - it's going to be another fun one. ugh - am I looking forward to having no life with school plus studying for the DAT? Absolutely not. Is not having a life worth getting to where I need to be when I apply for dental school? absolutely. School is school - it will be done before I know it. Only 2 semester left of my undergrad?! Ummm.. where did the time go?


The weather has been so pretty lately. It was in the 60s the other day... seriously amazing for Janurary! But as much as I do not enjoy the snow, I hope that we have at least one more snow storm so that all the mountains can be super pretty again!



Just another day driving home - I'm so lucky to live in such a pretty area!

Fun Facts About Your Teeth :)

Soo I begin on my nerdy posts... sorry but I really enjoy this stuff - hopefully you will too!! Here are some cool facts about dentistry that I stumbled upon here.

New born babies have no caries forming bacteria. Infact, it is the babies mother who transmits the plaque forming bacteria by blowing on food before feeding and kissing the babies mouth

Always replace a toothbrush after you had a cold, sore throat or notorious infections. The bacteria plant them on the toothbrush which can lead to reinfection.

You should always maintain a distance of 6 feet between the toilet and where you brush. The air borne particles from the flush can travel up to 6 feet.

There was a sudden massive surge of patients with tooth decay the year coke was launched.

The popular practice of placing a cap on toothbrush head actually favors bacterial growth on it as moisture is increased in enclosed containers favoring the growth of bacteria.

Vigorous brushing does more harm than good. Overzealous brushing can lead to eroded enamel which never grows back causing teeth sensitivity along with other oral problems.

2011 - Can't wait!

Happy New Year! Can you believe it is already 2011? Seriously time flies by sooo fast! This next year is going to be so crazy busy but so exciting!!
Some of the huge things happening in my life in next year:
-Last semester in Pi Phi (seriously it's already been 4 years?!);
-Taking the Kaplan course for the dental admission test (DAT);
-Taking the big, bad, scary DAT this summer;
-Applying for dental school in June;
-Graduating UNR in either December or May 2012 - scheduled for December but might stretch it to May;
-Hopefully visiting dental schools for interviews; & crossing my fingers super tight all year that I will be accepted into a dental school (who knows which one) for the Fall of 2012.

Eek! So much to accomplish in 2011. Praying that this year will be full of things to be proud of. I've decided to start posting random, fun dental facts because I'm weird like that and I really find them interesting.. who knows - maybe you will too? I'll start them this week!

Merry Christmas

So these past few days have been so much fun!! Good times with family & good friends.
Just a brief run down:

• Thursday - Holiday Extravaganza w/ old friends from high school all the way to elementary school.
• Christmas Eve - Hung out with my family all day in PJs & then went to church.
• Christmas Day - Went to visit my absolutely adorable Papa & give him his presents, came home & unwrapped presents, went ice skating with the girls (pictures are soon to come!), and had a yummy dinner that my mama made & went to see Papa again to bring him dinner. Lastly got to Skype my best friend who lives in Utah yay!!

 Let's just say ice skating is not my favorite.. I'm terrified!! Ever since that concussion in 3rd grade on the ice rink, I usually avoid the joyful trip but today I decided I couldn't resist. And I went around 3 times & I was done.. yes I said 3 times. Pretty embarrassing but it's whatev. I like to say I get my "grace & charm" from my mother - or lack there of :)

Overall, such a great 3 days!! I love the holidays & getting to spend lots of time with family & friends!

Ready, Set, Go!

Well, here it goes. I have been an avid blog stalker for the past few months & I have finally decided to start my own!! Hopefully once school starts again I will still be able to spare some time!

Quick little blurb about yesterday - can't believe how God truly has every little thing planned out & it all happens for a reason. Just by chance I had been chatting with a friend about my future goals, dental school, and she happened to know someone who could potentially really help me in the future. Very exciting & overwhelming!! This explains "persistent ambivalence" as my blog title. There are soo many things in my life right now that have my decisions and thoughts bouncing around like crazy but at the same time I am still very persistent in someday accomplishing my goals! I love my family & amazing friends.. I'm so happy this is my life - no matter how crazy it is at times!
